Old State House
Boston's oldest public building erected in 1713. This is where the Declaration of Independence was first read to the public. It is read from the balcony every year on July 4th. Queen Elizabeth has joined the festivities in the past. It is a ritual to give her a check for $33,000 which represents the cost of the tea that was thrown in Boston Harbor during the Boston Tea Party. This was a lot of money at that time and represented over 2 million cups of tea.
