Silly luggage/carry on rules

Did you know that if your checked luggage weighs more than 50 pounds, they will charge you $150? I guess I'll have to leave my anvil at home.  I had to research other "prohibited" items that I could carry on and was crestfallen to discover that I could not bring the following on board:   Box cutters, Ice Axes and Picks, Meat cleaver, Sabers, razor blades or swords and Cat-O-Nine-Tails.    I can, however, put all of these items in my checked luggage.  Thank god.
